Painting Box, a celebration of poetry, prose and music.

Two very special evenings in an atmospheric undercroft in the Bishop’s Palace, St Davids.

An engaging evening of poetry, music and prose, this year on the theme of Painting. Presented by the entire Festival company in the intimate atmosphere of the Bishop’s Palace Undercroft, this eclectic mix is always popular with our audiences. A hidden gem.

Carefully selected poems, excerpts of prose, music and songs are performed by the whole of the Festival Arts Company in the intimate surroundings of the Bishop's Palace vaults. With the ancient stones backlit and the audience cosily arranged, the atmosphere of this unique show is not to be missed.

This year's theme for all the pieces is painting and colour. Throughout the year pieces are found and carefully compiled under the directorship of Jenny Baines who has been a master of collating this show since its inception since 1983. We've often had local guests appear throughout the years, with our friend and local Pembrokeshire writer Robert Nisbet taking a regular slot. We look forward to him joining us again this year.

The show is performed in a vault and is therefore under cover but due to the limited capacity of the vault space we advise booking early to avoid disappointment.
